My name is Mary Cramer and this year marks the 45th anniversary of the unsolved murder of my mother, Norma Diane Cramer. She was shot point blank two times in the back of the head in July of 1968 in Porter County, Indiana. At the time, Norma lived in Elyria, Ohio and was visiting an ex-boyfriend in Indiana.
There are MANY unanswered questions that surround her death and my hopes are that through the use of Social Media and this website, I will be able to locate those whom I believe hold some answers to these questions.
I am especially hoping to locate Norma's two roommates at the time of her death. Their names back in July of 1968 were Helen "Louise" Gilmore and Penny Byrne. (These women would now be in their mid to late 60's) They moved from Elyria, Ohio to Piedmont, South Carolina just days after Norma went missing - they also held a yard sale prior to the move in which they sold many of Norma's personal items including things such as Norma's photo albums. Her roommates told the newspaper and sheriff that Norma had planned to move to South Carolina with them, yet Norma's friends and family knew NOTHING of her supposed plans to move out of state.
I do NOT believe they had an involvement in her death. I do however, believe they may have some knowledge of what happened to her. I am hoping if they were afraid to come forward back then, perhaps that fear will be gone after 45 years.
I am also hoping to locate Betty Smolanovich whose last known whereabouts in 1968 would have been Aliquippa, PA. I believe she too would be in her mid to late 60's. ***Since the inception of this website, Betty Smolanovich has been FOUND and INTERVIEWED. Although I cannot post the results of the interview at this time, I will do so at a later date***
If you have anything at all that may help solve or bring answers to why my mother was murdered or who was involved, I would appreciate the information, even if anonymous (use form on my website)
I firmly believe in the "Six Degrees Of Separation" theory! Six people stand between myself and those I am looking for. Six shares on Facebook could be all it takes!
